Dreamspeakers Film Festival ~ 2009

We are proud to announce that two (2) episodes from the "Dancing with Spirit" series is being shown at this year's Dreamspeakers Film Festival in Edmonton, AB on June 18 - 21.

"Dancers from the Great Plains" (episode #3) and "Triptych" (episode #6) will be shown during the 4 day festival at the West Edmonton Mall. If you have an opportunity go see some great films by aboriginals producers, directors and performers!

We are proud to announce that "Triptych" with Michael Greyeyes from the aboriginal series titled "Dancing with Spirit" has won the GOLDEN SHEAF AWARD for "Best Performing Arts Film" at the prestigious Yorkton Film Festival this past weekend!

Soaring Heart Pictures Home Page would like to welcome you to our site. This yearS.H.P. has some great programs in pre-production and development. Starting in April 2009 Soaring Heart Pictures and Phalanx Film Works will co-produce 13 episodes of pure adrenaline with our half-hour magazine style series that will explore the world of off-road motorcycle riding and competition titled "Off Road Rider TV" Each week ORR-TV will feature stories ranging from the extreme competitions of Motocross, Supercross, Areanacross, Competitive Enduro to Trials, Hare Scrambles and the weekend warrior rider. With the latest in news, reviews, interviews, tech and fitness tips from the pros and new manufactures motorcycle model tests. Off Road Rider TV will take the audience to some of the best places to ride off road motorcycles. With our TV Host ~ Cory Lee to introduce the viewing audience to our feature stories each week!

The sample segment “Behind the Bars” with Blair Morgan was shot during the 2006 CMRC Pro-National Series when Blair rode with the Blackfoot Honda Race Team and before Blair’s career ending crash that occurred in September at the Montreal Supercross.

Soaring Heart Pictures is in pre-production of a dark and sexy feature film dramatic thriller about bank robbery, twisted relationships and above all obsession titled "Steam". The screenplay is written by Murray Logan from his book of short stories. Murray is the same author of the award winning film adaptation of the same title, "The King of Siam". Check out the project's link at the top of this page in the left hand column for more info.

We would also like to inform everyone that "Dancing with Spirit" series will premiere on APTN (Aboriginal Peoples Television Network) during the week of March 16th, 2009. The series is now being shown on SCN (Saskatchewan Communications Network). So tune in and enjoy!

Santee Smith, Brian Solomon, Emily Law and Alex Meraz receives a Gemini Nomination for BEST ENSEMBLE  PERFORMANCE in a Performing Arts Program for " Here on Earth"

Both programs are extraordinary dance pieces created by extremely talented aboriginal choreographers & performers! It is a tribute to these Native Artist to be recognized by the Academy.

"Dancing with Spirit" an Aboriginal Dance Series

"Dancing with Spirit" is a six-part 30-minute dance series profiling aboriginal dancers from across Canada. Produced by Soaring Heart Pictures Inc. in association with Bravo!, the series presents a rare glimpse into native mythology – combining traditional dance, music and landscape with modern interpretive dance to create a visually emotional program. Covering six different First Nations cultures, each compelling dance piece was filmed in its place of origin, including Iqaluit, Montréal, Saskatoon, Lake Temagami, Toronto and Halton Region. Dancing with Spirit features choreography by Sylvia Cloutier, Gaetan Gingras, Tyrone Tootoosis Sr., Christine Friday-O’Leary, Santee Smith and Michael Greyeyes.

Director Byron McKim is an accomplished and award-winning director who been nominated three (3) times for a Gemini Award for Best Direction in Performing Arts Program.
